The list could go on and on. I could've added scrolling social media...but, I bet if I checked your screen-time report - - - - it would say WAY more than 20 minutes a day.
So what's my point here? We all have plenty of "20 minute" pockets throughout the day to fill. But, how we go about choosing our activities or making certain activities more of a priority...is up to each person.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day. We all are busy...everyone's "busy" looks different...but we are all busy. Right?
So let me share with you how I choose to use a certain "20 minute" pocket of my day that is literally changing my life and could yours as well.
Yep, that's right...you read it correctly. I said...let's PUKE together in 2019.
Have you ever dreamed something that you NEVER thought would be possible? Or maybe wished for something that you thought would be IMPOSSIBLE or even made you feel like throwing up?
Well...it's time to stop wishing and dreaming and actually PUT IN THE WORK...to make those things become a reality.
Tired of the job you currently have? Wish you had more time to travel? Yearn to have more money to pay for your kids sporting activities? Or maybe just want to be able to get your nails done monthly because you like what they look like?
Surrounded by these ladies...I was asked that same question this past Sunday. I was given just a few minutes to jot down ANYTHING that came to my mind that gave me JOY.
Have you thought about that recently? As in, truly thought about what makes you happy and brings JOY to your life?
I have...but not in that focused of a manner.
And...5 years ago...I'm not sure I had ever thought about it. I was just too busy with "life" and living the middle-aged, suburbia-woman life - (teens, travel sports, fast food, buffalo wild wings, 26 oz margaritas, NFL football, and driveway fire pit parties).
When I quickly started jotting things down...you may think that I wrote words like: working out, healthy meals, helping others lose weight, etc.
While all of those things DO bring me JOY...they weren't on my list.
Taking vacations with my husband
Coaching Lily's basketball team
Getting my nails done
Weekly date nights
Cruising to tropical places
Having a pool in my backyard (goal of mine)
Being around people who push me to do more
Hanging out with my nephew, Tommy
Spending time with my step-son, Jake.
Shopping trips with Kaylee
Hearing about Samantha's upcoming wedding
Spending time with my family.
The list could go on and on...but you see...none of those things were about a smaller number on the scale, or biceps, or ab muscles.
Because DEEP in my soul...what really makes my HEART FULL...are the other things that don't involve fitness.
So why share all of that with you?
From that day forward...life has not been the same. I wonder if you're reading this...thinking "she sounds just like me. I want to do more. I feel stuck in life."
Is that you? Let's chat! Maybe you've told me NO already...maybe this is the first time you've even been encouraged to make a change...all I'm saying is....If you don't have JOY in your life...then what's the point?
Let me help you find it. It starts with YOU making a change for YOU...the rest will fall into place.
I think it's kind of ODD that the new pillows I bought for my couch this year...spell out JOY. :) It must be a sign that 2019 is going to be FILLED with all things that bring YOU and ME happiness and you.
Because if I had never been asked to join an online fitness challenge group and enjoy a discount on the products that I was going to be using...I'd still be sitting 45 lbs. heavier, content with my 26 oz. margarita EVERY Friday night, and being disgruntled that I had to work in my 1st grade classroom every single night until 6:30 and go in on Sunday to make sure I was prepared for the week. YUCK!!!!
That DID NOT bring me JOY at all. It actually sucked the LIFE out of me.
She reached out to me AGAIN and AGAIN...because I didn't know life could be any different. I had no idea what joining a challenge group entailed...and I sure as hell didn't know how to run an online business.
So I resisted...until that ONE TIME...I actually said YES. I said YES to myself...because I WANTED MORE. I wanted all of those things on my list. I wanted things in life that brought ME joy...not things that sucked the life OUT of my soul.
